Investing.com – Japan stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Chemical, Communication and Trading sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 declined 0.51%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Takara Holdings Inc. (T:2531), which rose 16.14% or 180.0 points to trade at 1295.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Tokyo Dome Corp. (T:9681) added 3.93% or 37.0 points to end at 978.0 and Toho Zinc Co., Ltd. (T:5707) was up 3.03% or 110.0 points to 3740.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Furukawa Co., Ltd. (T:5715), which fell 9.48% or 161.0 points to trade at 1538.0 at the close. SUMCO Corp. (T:3436) declined 5.20% or 99.0 points to end at 1806.0 and Konami Corp. (T:9766) was down 4.22% or 195.0 points to 4425.0.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2535 to 860 and 193 ended unchanged.
Shares in Furukawa Co., Ltd. (T:5715) fell to 52-week lows; falling 9.48% or 161.0 to 1538.0. Shares in Konami Corp. (T:9766) fell to 52-week lows; falling 4.22% or 195.0 to 4425.0.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 7.79% to 16.47.
Crude oil for October delivery was down 0.15% or 0.10 to $68.62 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in November rose 0.01% or 0.01 to hit $77.28 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.52% or 6.20 to trade at $1207.50 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.18% to 111.33, while EUR/JPY fell 0.17% to 129.50.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.02% at 95.05.
