Investing.com – Japan stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Paper & Pulp, Railway & Bus and Real Estate sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 fell 0.41%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Pacific Metals Co., Ltd. (T:5541), which rose 6.69% or 126.0 points to trade at 2010.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Tokyo Dome Corp. (T:9681) added 3.39% or 35.0 points to end at 1068.0 and Astellas Pharma Inc. (T:4503) was up 2.58% or 38.0 points to 1510.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were DeNA Co Ltd (T:2432), which fell 9.32% or 209.0 points to trade at 2034.0 at the close. Sumitomo Dainippon Pharma Co Ltd (T:4506) declined 3.99% or 74.0 points to end at 1782.0 and Keio Corp. (T:9008) was down 3.31% or 220.0 points to 6420.0.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2245 to 1217 and 237 ended unchanged.
Shares in Sumitomo Dainippon Pharma Co Ltd (T:4506) fell to 52-week lows; down 3.99% or 74.0 to 1782.0.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.10.
Crude oil for October delivery was up 0.11% or 0.06 to $55.16 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in November fell 0.03% or 0.02 to hit $59.23 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.02% or 0.35 to trade at $1529.75 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.02% to 106.27, while EUR/JPY fell 0.09% to 116.73.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.03% at 98.833.
