Investing.com – Japan stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Construction, Precision Instruments and Transport sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 fell 0.39%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Tokai Carbon Co., Ltd. (T:5301), which rose 7.49% or 117.0 points to trade at 1680.0 at the close. Meanwhile, GS Yuasa Corp. (T:6674) added 4.99% or 29.0 points to end at 610.0 and Yamato Holdings Co., Ltd. (T:9064) was up 3.73% or 89.0 points to 2473.5 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Tokuyama Corp. (T:4043), which fell 6.51% or 255.0 points to trade at 3660.0 at the close. SUMCO Corp. (T:3436) declined 3.36% or 103.0 points to end at 2967.0 and Advantest Corp. (T:6857) was down 3.02% or 68.0 points to 2187.0.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 1695 to 1683 and 207 ended unchanged.

The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 3.81% to 16.17.
Crude oil for February delivery was down 0.16% or 0.10 to $63.47 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in March fell 0.23% or 0.16 to hit $69.04 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract fell 0.23% or 3.00 to trade at $1316.30 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.36% to 111.84, while EUR/JPY rose 0.23% to 133.44.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.21% at 92.30.
