Investing.com – Japan stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Paper & Pulp, Railway & Bus and Real Estate sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 lost 0.37%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Nippon Electric Glass Co., Ltd. (T:5214), which rose 7.58% or 148.0 points to trade at 2101.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Sumitomo Dainippon Pharma Co Ltd (T:4506) added 6.91% or 82.0 points to end at 1268.0 and Sony Corp (T:6758) was up 6.69% or 552.0 points to 8800.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Tokuyama Corp. (T:4043), which fell 7.33% or 190.0 points to trade at 2401.0 at the close. Nisshin Seifun Group Inc. (T:2002) declined 5.01% or 85.0 points to end at 1611.0 and Hitachi Construction Machinery Co (T:6305) was down 4.92% or 140.0 points to 2703.0.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2142 to 1338 and 205 ended unchanged.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was unchanged 0% to 24.20.
Crude oil for December delivery was down 0.43% or 0.16 to $37.23 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in January fell 0.40% or 0.16 to hit $39.48 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.10% or 1.95 to trade at $1881.15 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.02% to 104.31, while EUR/JPY rose 0.04% to 122.56.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.01% at 93.418.
