Investing.com – Japan stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Insurance, Banking and Transportation Equipment sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 lost 0.35%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Toshiba Corp. (T:6502), which rose 3.48% or 6.4 points to trade at 190.2 at the close. Meanwhile, Minebea Mitsumi Inc (T:6479) added 2.86% or 45.0 points to end at 1621.0 and Fanuc Corp. (T:6954) was up 2.69% or 605.0 points to 23075.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Tokyo Dome Corp. (T:9681), which fell 4.40% or 50.0 points to trade at 1087.0 at the close. JTEKT Corp. (T:6473) declined 2.83% or 56.0 points to end at 1925.0 and The Kansai Electric Power Co. (T:9503) was down 2.34% or 29.5 points to 1231.5.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 1783 to 1210 and 368 ended unchanged.
Shares in Minebea Mitsumi Inc (T:6479) rose to 52-week highs; up 2.86% or 45.0 to 1621.0. Shares in Fanuc Corp. (T:6954) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 2.69% or 605.0 to 23075.0.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 8.59% to 14.58 a new 52-week low.
Crude oil for April delivery was down 0.02% or 0.01 to $48.74 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in May fell 0.15% or 0.08 to hit $51.66 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract fell 0.09% or 1.05 to trade at $1226.05 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.04% to 113.35, while EUR/JPY unchanged 0.00% to 121.97.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.07% at 100.16.
