Investing.com – Japan stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Power, Shipbuilding and Communication sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 lost 0.35%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Fukuoka Financial Group, Inc. (TYO:8354), which rose 4.64% or 123.00 points to trade at 2,775.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Tokyo Electric Power Co., Inc. (TYO:9501) added 4.40% or 22.00 points to end at 522.00 and CyberAgent Inc (TYO:4751) was up 3.94% or 51.00 points to 1,345.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Japan Steel Works Ltd (TYO:5631), which fell 2.96% or 90.00 points to trade at 2,955.00 at the close. Dentsu Inc. (TYO:4324) declined 2.74% or 125.00 points to end at 4,430.00 and Citizen Holdings Co., Ltd. (TYO:7762) was down 2.10% or 13.00 points to 606.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 1972 to 1510 and 341 ended unchanged.

The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 2.39% to 17.15 a new 52-week low.
Crude oil for January delivery was up 0.69% or 0.54 to $78.48 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in January rose 0.48% or 0.41 to hit $85.75 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.04% or 0.65 to trade at $1,754.45 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.05% to 138.68, while EUR/JPY rose 0.05% to 144.35.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.07% at 105.69.
