Investing.com – Japan stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Paper & Pulp, Railway & Bus and Real Estate sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 fell 0.29%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Dainippon Screen Mfg. Co., Ltd. (T:7735), which rose 3.48% or 200.0 points to trade at 5950.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Daikin Industries, Ltd. (T:6367) added 2.35% or 455.0 points to end at 19830.0 and Yahoo Japan Corp. (T:4689) was up 2.33% or 17.0 points to 746.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding (T:7003), which fell 6.95% or 26.0 points to trade at 348.0 at the close. Mazda Motor Corp (T:7261) declined 6.48% or 39.0 points to end at 563.0 and Fujitsu Ltd. (T:6702) was down 5.73% or 780.0 points to 12840.0.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2393 to 1096 and 193 ended unchanged.
Shares in Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding (T:7003) fell to all time lows; falling 6.95% or 26.0 to 348.0.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was unchanged 0% to 23.19.
Crude oil for December delivery was down 2.91% or 1.15 to $38.42 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in January fell 2.38% or 0.99 to hit $40.62 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.16% or 3.15 to trade at $1908.75 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.21% to 104.19, while EUR/JPY fell 0.38% to 122.67.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.20% at 93.112.
