Investing.com – Japan stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Paper & Pulp, Railway & Bus and Real Estate sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 declined 0.29%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Yahoo Japan Corp. (T:4689), which rose 3.24% or 13.0 points to trade at 414.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Nippon Suisan Kaisha, Ltd. (T:1332) added 2.76% or 18.0 points to end at 670.0 and Familymart Ltd (T:8028) was up 2.21% or 58.0 points to 2682.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Sumitomo Dainippon Pharma Co Ltd (T:4506), which fell 3.23% or 70.0 points to trade at 2100.0 at the close. Daiichi Sankyo Co., Ltd. (T:4568) declined 3.02% or 227.0 points to end at 7281.0 and Konami Corp. (T:9766) was down 2.72% or 125.0 points to 4470.0.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 1864 to 1684 and 244 ended unchanged.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 14.74.
Crude oil for February delivery was down 0.12% or 0.07 to $59.91 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in February fell 0.12% or 0.08 to hit $65.14 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 0.07% or 1.05 to trade at $1482.25 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.03% to 109.39, while EUR/JPY rose 0.29% to 121.97.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.23% at 96.520.
