Investing.com – Japan stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Paper & Pulp, Railway & Bus and Real Estate sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 fell 0.28%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were CyberAgent Inc (T:4751), which rose 5.25% or 235.0 points to trade at 4710.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Shinsei Bank, Ltd. (T:8303) added 2.80% or 40.0 points to end at 1470.0 and Asahi Group Holdings, Ltd. (T:2502) was up 2.53% or 121.0 points to 4912.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Pacific Metals Co., Ltd. (T:5541), which fell 3.27% or 67.0 points to trade at 1980.0 at the close. Mazda Motor Corp (T:7261) declined 3.23% or 28.8 points to end at 862.8 and Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd. (T:9107) was down 3.03% or 34.0 points to 1087.0.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2501 to 982 and 218 ended unchanged.
Shares in Mazda Motor Corp (T:7261) fell to 5-year lows; falling 3.23% or 28.8 to 862.8.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 18.14.
Crude oil for October delivery was up 0.23% or 0.13 to $56.26 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in October rose 0.50% or 0.30 to hit $60.33 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.48% or 7.25 to trade at $1508.45 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.33% to 106.58, while EUR/JPY rose 0.30% to 118.25.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.08% at 98.143.
