Investing.com – Japan stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Precision Instruments, Retail and Chemical sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 fell 0.25%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Shinsei Bank, Ltd. (T:8303), which rose 2.33% or 4.0 points to trade at 175.5 at the close. Meanwhile, Toyobo Co., Ltd. (T:3101) added 1.99% or 4.0 points to end at 205.0 and Credit Saison Co., Ltd. (T:8253) was up 1.85% or 40.0 points to 2199.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Isetan Mitsukoshi Holdings Ltd. (T:3099), which fell 5.08% or 60.0 points to trade at 1120.0 at the close. JFE Holdings, Inc. (T:5411) declined 4.68% or 104.5 points to end at 2128.5 and Shiseido Co., Ltd. (T:4911) was down 4.54% or 201.0 points to 4231.0.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2184 to 1048 and 241 ended unchanged.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 3.76% to 13.55 a new 1-month low.
Crude oil for November delivery was down 0.04% or 0.02 to $50.53 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in November fell 0.11% or 0.06 to hit $56.37 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.45% or 5.77 to trade at $1300.57 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.44% to 111.97, while EUR/JPY rose 0.03% to 134.35.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.37% at 91.63.
