Investing.com – Japan stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Shipbuilding, Paper & Pulp and Textile sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 declined 0.21%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Nippon Sheet Glass Co., Ltd. (T:5202), which rose 7.66% or 83.0 points to trade at 1166.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Kuraray Co., Ltd. (T:3405) added 4.98% or 90.0 points to end at 1897.0 and Konica Minolta, Inc. (T:4902) was up 3.60% or 35.0 points to 1007.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Pioneer Corp. (T:6773), which fell 8.99% or 16.0 points to trade at 162.0 at the close. Ebara Corp. (T:6361) declined 8.41% or 365.0 points to end at 3975.0 and Nisshin Seifun Group Inc. (T:2002) was down 6.66% or 164.0 points to 2299.0.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 1848 to 1528 and 205 ended unchanged.

The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 4.15% to 14.56.
Crude oil for June delivery was down 0.01% or 0.01 to $70.95 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in July rose 0.46% or 0.36 to hit $78.59 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract fell 0.64% or 8.40 to trade at $1309.80 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.23% to 109.91, while EUR/JPY rose 0.15% to 130.99.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.11% at 92.65.
