Investing.com – Japan stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Steel, Rubber and Glass sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 lost 0.20%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Pioneer Corp. (T:6773), which rose 12.71% or 15.0 points to trade at 133.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Showa Denko K.K. (T:4004) added 9.48% or 490.0 points to end at 5660.0 and Shiseido Co., Ltd. (T:4911) was up 7.84% or 592.0 points to 8140.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Chiyoda Corp. (T:6366), which fell 7.92% or 67.0 points to trade at 779.0 at the close. DOWA Holdings Co., Ltd. (T:5714) declined 6.55% or 230.0 points to end at 3280.0 and Suzuki Motor Corp. (T:7269) was down 6.04% or 446.0 points to 6944.0.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 1933 to 1438 and 216 ended unchanged.
Shares in Showa Denko K.K. (T:4004) rose to all time highs; gaining 9.48% or 490.0 to 5660.0.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 14.60 a new 1-month low.
Crude oil for September delivery was unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to $66.94 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in October unchanged 0.00% or 0.00 to hit $72.28 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.16% or 1.90 to trade at $1219.10 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.05% to 111.09, while EUR/JPY fell 0.16% to 128.68.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.20% at 95.14.
