Investing.com – Japan stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Paper & Pulp, Railway & Bus and Real Estate sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 declined 0.18%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Yahoo Japan Corp. (T:4689), which rose 5.27% or 27.0 points to trade at 539.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Nippon Light Metal Holdings Co. (T:5703) added 3.30% or 6.0 points to end at 188.0 and Chugai Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (T:4519) was up 3.25% or 545.0 points to 17320.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding (T:7003), which fell 5.61% or 28.0 points to trade at 471.0 at the close. Keio Corp. (T:9008) declined 4.08% or 260.0 points to end at 6120.0 and Yamaha Corp. (T:7951) was down 3.19% or 170.0 points to 5160.0.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 1798 to 1665 and 220 ended unchanged.

The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was unchanged 0% to 30.49.
Crude oil for August delivery was up 0.60% or 0.24 to $40.07 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in August rose 0.78% or 0.33 to hit $42.52 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract rose 0.23% or 4.05 to trade at $1757.05 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.13% to 107.00, while EUR/JPY rose 0.24% to 119.89.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.18% at 97.403.
