Investing.com – Japan stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Glass, Automobiles & Parts and Services sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 declined 0.16% to hit a new 6-months low.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Shin-Etsu Chemical Co., Ltd. (T:4063), which rose 8.01% or 677.0 points to trade at 9130.0 at the close. Meanwhile, The Kansai Electric Power Co. (T:9503) added 6.40% or 107.5 points to end at 1788.0 and Chubu Electric Power Co., Inc. (T:9502) was up 4.99% or 80.5 points to 1692.5 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Ricoh Co., Ltd. (T:7752), which fell 10.61% or 127.0 points to trade at 1070.0 at the close. Meidensha Corp. (T:6508) declined 6.45% or 104.0 points to end at 1508.0 and Fujitsu Ltd. (T:6702) was down 5.44% or 381.0 points to 6622.0.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2593 to 936 and 144 ended unchanged.
Shares in The Kansai Electric Power Co. (T:9503) rose to 5-year highs; rising 6.40% or 107.5 to 1788.0. Shares in Meidensha Corp. (T:6508) fell to 52-week lows; losing 6.45% or 104.0 to 1508.0.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 3.63% to 28.11.
Crude oil for December delivery was down 0.52% or 0.35 to $67.24 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in January fell 0.58% or 0.45 to hit $77.21 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.26% or 3.20 to trade at $1232.60 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.01% to 111.91, while EUR/JPY fell 0.10% to 127.47.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.15% at 96.27.
