Investing.com – Japan stocks were lower after the close on Tuesday, as losses in the Banking, Insurance and Fishery sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 fell 0.13%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Mitsubishi Motors Corp. (TYO:7211), which rose 7.23% or 39.40 points to trade at 584.20 at the close. Meanwhile, Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. (TYO:7201) added 6.60% or 41.20 points to end at 665.00 and Yaskawa Electric Corp. (TYO:6506) was up 3.52% or 216.00 points to 6,355.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Nippon Telegraph & Telephone Corp (TYO:9432), which fell 2.63% or 4.40 points to trade at 163.00 at the close. Chugai Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (TYO:4519) declined 1.89% or 77.00 points to end at 3,992.00 and Toho Co., Ltd. (TYO:9602) was down 1.88% or 105.00 points to 5,488.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 1970 to 1595 and 298 ended unchanged.
Shares in Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. (TYO:7201) rose to 3-years highs; gaining 6.60% or 41.20 to 665.00.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 0.25% to 19.86.
Crude oil for September delivery was up 0.25% or 0.20 to $78.94 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in October rose 0.21% or 0.17 to hit $82.65 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract fell 0.29% or 5.75 to trade at $1,956.45 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.07% to 141.54, while EUR/JPY fell 0.18% to 156.27.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.17% at 101.26.
