Investing.com – Japan stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Mining, Trading and Insurance sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 fell 0.13%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Dainippon Screen Mfg. Co., Ltd. (T:7735), which rose 4.00% or 320.0 points to trade at 8315.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Showa Shell Sekiyu K.K. (T:5002) added 3.80% or 66.0 points to end at 1803.0 and Minebea Mitsumi Inc (T:6479) was up 3.62% or 70.0 points to 2006.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Shiseido Co., Ltd. (T:4911), which fell 4.81% or 423.0 points to trade at 8372.0 at the close. Nippon Paper Industries Co., Ltd. (T:3863) declined 3.24% or 58.0 points to end at 1730.0 and Meiji Holdings Co., Ltd. (T:2269) was down 3.00% or 280.0 points to 9050.0.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 1739 to 1626 and 210 ended unchanged.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 3.42% to 15.83 a new 1-month low.
Crude oil for September delivery was down 0.77% or 0.52 to $67.23 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in September fell 0.80% or 0.58 to hit $72.32 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract fell 0.78% or 9.60 to trade at $1218.30 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.10% to 112.95, while EUR/JPY fell 0.11% to 131.19.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.31% at 95.13.
