Investing.com – Japan stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Power, Precision Instruments and Gas & Water sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 fell 0.10%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Sumitomo Dainippon Pharma Co Ltd (TYO:4506), which rose 7.80% or 43.00 points to trade at 594.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Sapporo Holdings Ltd. (TYO:2501) added 4.15% or 280.00 points to end at 7,030.00 and DeNA Co Ltd (TYO:2432) was up 3.58% or 95.50 points to 2,760.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Mitsubishi Motors Corp. (TYO:7211), which fell 6.88% or 33.10 points to trade at 447.90 at the close. Nidec Corp (TYO:6594) declined 3.16% or 93.00 points to end at 2,853.50 and J.Front Retailing Co., Ltd. (TYO:3086) was down 2.94% or 61.00 points to 2,013.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2479 to 1096 and 295 ended unchanged.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 2.33% to 21.00.
Crude oil for March delivery was down 0.03% or 0.02 to $74.60 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in March rose 0.01% or 0.01 to hit $78.30 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 0.56% or 15.41 to trade at $2,780.41 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.44% to 155.37, while EUR/JPY fell 0.04% to 162.42.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.29% at 107.56.
