Investing.com – Japan stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Insurance, Transport and Banking sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 fell 0.09%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Advantest Corp. (TYO:6857), which rose 5.74% or 1,180.00 points to trade at 21,720.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd. (TYO:9107) added 3.88% or 148.00 points to end at 3,960.00 and Toho Co., Ltd. (TYO:9602) was up 3.19% or 177.00 points to 5,730.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Seven & i Holdings Co., Ltd. (TYO:3382), which fell 5.14% or 317.00 points to trade at 5,850.00 at the close. Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding (TYO:7003) declined 3.51% or 18.00 points to end at 495.00 and Keisei Electric Railway Co., Ltd. (TYO:9009) was down 2.75% or 159.00 points to 5,632.00.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2227 to 1359 and 249 ended unchanged.

The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 4.16% to 21.52.
Crude oil for August delivery was down 0.16% or 0.12 to $76.77 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in September fell 0.22% or 0.18 to hit $81.18 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract fell 0.21% or 4.15 to trade at $1,959.65 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.25% to 138.37, while EUR/JPY rose 0.05% to 155.07.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.16% at 99.61.
