Investing.com – Japan stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Warehousing, Trading and Transport sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 lost 0.08%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were GS Yuasa Corp. (TYO:6674), which rose 21.14% or 449.50 points to trade at 2,575.50 at the close. Meanwhile, Mitsubishi Corp. (TYO:8058) added 9.74% or 247.00 points to end at 2,782.00 and Ricoh Co., Ltd. (TYO:7752) was up 6.64% or 79.00 points to 1,269.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were LY Corp (TYO:4689), which fell 7.22% or 33.70 points to trade at 433.30 at the close. Daikin Industries, Ltd. (TYO:6367) declined 7.07% or 1,610.00 points to end at 21,165.00 and Asahi Kasei Corp. (TYO:3407) was down 6.57% or 73.00 points to 1,038.50.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 1930 to 1694 and 258 ended unchanged.
Shares in Mitsubishi Corp. (TYO:8058) rose to all time highs; rising 9.74% or 247.00 to 2,782.00.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 2.99% to 19.97.
Crude oil for March delivery was up 0.01% or 0.01 to $73.32 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in April fell 0.04% or 0.03 to hit $78.56 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract fell 0.14% or 2.85 to trade at $2,048.55 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.07% to 148.04, while EUR/JPY rose 0.10% to 159.27.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.05% at 104.02.
