Investing.com – Japan stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic, Real Estate and Warehousing sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 fell 0.08%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Nippon Sheet Glass Co., Ltd. (T:5202), which rose 2.81% or 28.0 points to trade at 1024.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Toshiba Corp. (T:6502) added 2.28% or 7.0 points to end at 314.5 and Asahi Glass Co., Ltd. (T:5201) was up 1.99% or 95.0 points to 4880.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Shiseido Co., Ltd. (T:4911), which fell 2.12% or 118.0 points to trade at 5446.0 at the close. Yahoo Japan Corp. (T:4689) declined 1.90% or 10.0 points to end at 517.5 and Furukawa Electric Co., Ltd. (T:5801) was down 1.42% or 80.0 points to 5560.0.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 1826 to 1499 and 240 ended unchanged.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 2.96% to 15.64.
Crude oil for February delivery was up 0.65% or 0.39 to $60.23 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in March rose 0.68% or 0.45 to hit $66.61 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 0.02% or 0.30 to trade at $1297.50 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.16% to 112.72, while EUR/JPY fell 0.10% to 134.70.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.05% at 92.29.
