Investing.com – Japan stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Retail, Pharmaceutical Industry and Gas & Water sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 fell 0.06%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Nippon Sheet Glass Co., Ltd. (TYO:5202), which rose 5.15% or 36.00 points to trade at 735.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Fujitsu Ltd. (TYO:6702) added 2.70% or 470.00 points to end at 17,900.00 and Panasonic Corp (TYO:6752) was up 2.33% or 27.50 points to 1,205.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Fuji Electric Co., Ltd. (TYO:6504), which fell 3.18% or 170.00 points to trade at 5,180.00 at the close. NTT Data Corp. (TYO:9613) declined 2.88% or 54.00 points to end at 1,818.00 and Chiba Bank Ltd (TYO:8331) was down 2.51% or 25.00 points to 970.00.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 1864 to 1693 and 270 ended unchanged.

The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 3.78% to 15.78.
Crude oil for April delivery was down 0.36% or 0.28 to $77.41 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in May fell 0.32% or 0.27 to hit $84.04 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract fell 0.42% or 7.75 to trade at $1,837.65 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.50% to 136.84, while EUR/JPY rose 0.21% to 145.55.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.27% at 104.71.
