Investing.com – Japan stocks were lower after the close on Friday, as losses in the Shipbuilding, Finance & Investment and Manufacturing sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 fell 0.06%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Toho Co., Ltd. (T:9602), which rose 2.71% or 90.0 points to trade at 3410.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Kyowa Hakko Kirin Co., Ltd. (T:4151) added 2.60% or 50.0 points to end at 1970.0 and Eisai Co., Ltd. (T:4523) was up 2.44% or 240.0 points to 10060.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Mitsui Mining and Smelting Co. (T:5706), which fell 3.69% or 122.5 points to trade at 3195.0 at the close. Unitika, Ltd. (T:3103) declined 3.55% or 25.0 points to end at 680.0 and Furukawa Co., Ltd. (T:5715) was down 3.50% or 65.0 points to 1791.0.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2008 to 1356 and 244 ended unchanged.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 3.38% to 14.97.
Crude oil for October delivery was down 0.44% or 0.31 to $69.94 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in November fell 0.59% or 0.46 to hit $77.56 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.65% or 7.80 to trade at $1212.80 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.23% to 110.74, while EUR/JPY fell 0.10% to 129.34.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.08% at 94.56.
