Investing.com – Japan stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Chemical, Textile and Rubber sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 declined 0.05% to hit a new 1-month low.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Shiseido Co., Ltd. (T:4911), which rose 13.77% or 535.0 points to trade at 4420.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Mitsui Mining and Smelting Co. (T:5706) added 11.75% or 58.0 points to end at 551.5 and Taiheiyo Cement Corp. (T:5233) was up 5.93% or 24.0 points to 428.5 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Chiyoda Corp. (T:6366), which fell 10.70% or 70.0 points to trade at 584.0 at the close. DOWA Holdings Co., Ltd. (T:5714) declined 8.19% or 74.0 points to end at 830.0 and Dentsu Inc. (T:4324) was down 6.09% or 315.0 points to 4855.0.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 1861 to 1373 and 228 ended unchanged.

(T:5233) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 5.93% or 24.0 to 428.5. Shares in Dentsu Inc. (T:4324) fell to 52-week lows; losing 6.09% or 315.0 to 4855.0.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 24.69% to 16.06 a new 1-month high.
Crude oil for September delivery was up 0.22% or 0.11 to $49.67 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in October rose 0.47% or 0.25 to hit $52.95 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.38% or 4.86 to trade at $1284.16 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.09% to 109.97, while EUR/JPY fell 0.36% to 128.98.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.21% at 93.61.
