Investing.com – Japan stocks were lower after the close on Wednesday, as losses in the Paper & Pulp, Railway & Bus and Real Estate sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 lost 0.05%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Hino Motors, Ltd. (T:7205), which rose 6.66% or 50.0 points to trade at 801.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Yahoo Japan Corp. (T:4689) added 3.91% or 28.0 points to end at 745.0 and Nippon Telegraph & Telephone Corp (T:9432) was up 3.31% or 73.5 points to 2295.5 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Daiichi Sankyo Co., Ltd. (T:4568), which fell 3.30% or 102.0 points to trade at 2985.0 at the close. Eisai Co., Ltd. (T:4523) declined 3.20% or 312.0 points to end at 9450.0 and Sumitomo Dainippon Pharma Co Ltd (T:4506) was down 2.81% or 39.0 points to 1348.0.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 1812 to 1657 and 210 ended unchanged.
Shares in Yahoo Japan Corp. (T:4689) rose to 5-year highs; up 3.91% or 28.0 to 745.0.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was unchanged 0% to 23.54.
Crude oil for November delivery was down 1.30% or 0.53 to $40.14 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in December fell 0.94% or 0.40 to hit $42.25 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.62% or 11.85 to trade at $1896.95 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.24% to 105.88, while EUR/JPY rose 0.44% to 124.45.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.01% at 93.757.
