Investing.com – Japan stocks were lower after the close on Thursday, as losses in the Paper & Pulp, Glass and Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 lost 0.05%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Comsys Holdings Corp. (T:1721), which rose 2.40% or 70.0 points to trade at 2984.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Amada Co., Ltd. (T:6113) added 2.37% or 27.0 points to end at 1164.0 and Fast Retailing Co., Ltd. (T:9983) was up 2.14% or 1030.0 points to 49270.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Pacific Metals Co., Ltd. (T:5541), which fell 6.82% or 270.0 points to trade at 3690.0 at the close. Shiseido Co., Ltd. (T:4911) declined 5.35% or 403.0 points to end at 7135.0 and Mitsui Mining and Smelting Co. (T:5706) was down 4.64% or 160.0 points to 3285.0.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2663 to 781 and 171 ended unchanged.

The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 7.14% to 17.11.
Crude oil for September delivery was up 0.03% or 0.02 to $65.03 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in October rose 0.18% or 0.13 to hit $70.89 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.14% or 1.60 to trade at $1186.60 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.05% to 110.81, while EUR/JPY rose 0.37% to 126.14.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.22% at 96.38.
