Investing.com – Japan stocks were lower after the close on Monday, as losses in the Food, Transportation Equipment and Fishery sectors led shares lower.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 fell 0.01%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were SKY Perfect JSAT Holdings Inc. (T:9412), which rose 3.21% or 16.0 points to trade at 515.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Tokai Carbon Co., Ltd. (T:5301) added 2.96% or 22.0 points to end at 765.0 and Terumo Corp. (T:4543) was up 2.29% or 95.0 points to 4245.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were IHI Corp. (T:7013), which fell 2.81% or 10.0 points to trade at 346.5 at the close. Fuji Heavy Industries Ltd. (T:7270) declined 2.12% or 83.0 points to end at 3828.0 and Konami Corp. (T:9766) was down 2.00% or 120.0 points to 5890.0.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2033 to 1166 and 268 ended unchanged.
Shares in Tokai Carbon Co., Ltd. (T:5301) rose to 5-year highs; gaining 2.96% or 22.0 to 765.0.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 3.43% to 15.20.
Crude oil for October delivery was down 0.90% or 0.43 to $47.44 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in November fell 0.02% or 0.01 to hit $51.97 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.31% or 4.00 to trade at $1301.90 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.19% to 109.16, while EUR/JPY fell 0.08% to 130.28.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.12% at 92.36.
