Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Paper & Pulp, Railway & Bus and Real Estate sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 rose 3.88%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Tokyo Gas Co., Ltd. (T:9531), which rose 11.18% or 261.0 points to trade at 2595.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Terumo Corp. (T:4543) added 11.02% or 365.0 points to end at 3677.0 and DIC Corp (T:4631) was up 10.48% or 234.0 points to 2466.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Ricoh Co., Ltd. (T:7752), which fell 4.52% or 37.0 points to trade at 781.0 at the close. Chiyoda Corp. (T:6366) declined 3.91% or 9.0 points to end at 221.0 and Rakuten Inc (T:4755) was down 1.58% or 13.0 points to 809.0.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2965 to 721 and 109 ended unchanged.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 48.28.
Crude oil for May delivery was up 0.62% or 0.14 to $22.74 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in May fell 1.03% or 0.27 to hit $26.07 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract fell 1.38% or 22.85 to trade at $1628.35 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.60% to 108.92, while EUR/JPY fell 0.72% to 119.97.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.17% at 99.620.
