Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Glass, Electrical/Machinery and Machinery sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 rose 2.63%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Sumitomo Dainippon Pharma Co Ltd (T:4506), which rose 14.59% or 314.0 points to trade at 2466.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Hitachi Construction Machinery Co (T:6305) added 8.47% or 251.0 points to end at 3215.0 and Dainippon Screen Mfg. Co., Ltd. (T:7735) was up 8.09% or 490.0 points to 6550.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Chiyoda Corp. (T:6366), which fell 17.32% or 80.0 points to trade at 382.0 at the close. Oji Holdings Corp. (T:3861) declined 5.26% or 41.0 points to end at 739.0 and The Kansai Electric Power Co. (T:9503) was down 4.76% or 84.0 points to 1682.0.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2615 to 906 and 158 ended unchanged.
Shares in Chiyoda Corp. (T:6366) fell to all time lows; losing 17.32% or 80.0 to 382.0.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 0.49% to 26.15.
Crude oil for December delivery was down 0.42% or 0.27 to $63.42 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in January fell 0.23% or 0.17 to hit $72.72 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.14% or 1.70 to trade at $1236.90 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.17% to 112.91, while EUR/JPY rose 0.46% to 129.18.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.20% at 95.89.
