Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Paper & Pulp, Railway & Bus and Real Estate sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 added 2.56%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were JTEKT Corp. (T:6473), which rose 9.21% or 64.0 points to trade at 759.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Sumitomo Corp. (T:8053) added 8.25% or 98.5 points to end at 1292.0 and Ricoh Co., Ltd. (T:7752) was up 7.77% or 55.0 points to 763.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were DeNA Co Ltd (T:2432), which fell 1.80% or 24.0 points to trade at 1307.0 at the close. Yahoo Japan Corp. (T:4689) declined 1.36% or 6.0 points to end at 435.0 and Chugai Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (T:4519) was down 1.24% or 165.0 points to 13090.0.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2839 to 801 and 139 ended unchanged.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 34.15.
Crude oil for June delivery was up 4.42% or 1.04 to $24.59 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in July rose 2.68% or 0.79 to hit $30.25 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract rose 0.23% or 3.95 to trade at $1729.75 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.14% to 106.42, while EUR/JPY rose 0.14% to 115.28.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.07% at 99.838.
