Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Automobiles & Parts, Power and Electrical/Machinery sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 gained 2.50%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Amada Co., Ltd. (TYO:6113), which rose 6.72% or 71.00 points to trade at 1,127.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Terumo Corp. (TYO:4543) added 6.35% or 224.00 points to end at 3,754.00 and Konami Corp. (TYO:9766) was up 6.11% or 350.00 points to 6,080.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Dai-ichi Life Holdings Inc (TYO:8750), which fell 1.67% or 50.00 points to trade at 2,953.00 at the close. T&D Holdings, Inc. (TYO:8795) declined 1.64% or 33.00 points to end at 1,976.00 and Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group Inc (TYO:8306) was down 0.79% or 7.50 points to 943.10.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2871 to 713 and 225 ended unchanged.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 3.14% to 19.15.
Crude oil for March delivery was up 0.97% or 0.78 to $81.23 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in March rose 0.77% or 0.66 to hit $86.58 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 0.01% or 0.10 to trade at $1,910.00 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 1.72% to 130.34, while EUR/JPY rose 1.93% to 140.90.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.02% at 102.16.
