Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Paper & Pulp, Railway & Bus and Real Estate sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 gained 2.41%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were NTT Data Corp. (T:9613), which rose 8.12% or 132.0 points to trade at 1757.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Haseko Corp (T:1808) added 5.92% or 78.0 points to end at 1396.0 and Nippon Sheet Glass Co., Ltd. (T:5202) was up 5.57% or 30.0 points to 569.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Rakuten Inc (T:4755), which fell 2.02% or 24.0 points to trade at 1167.0 at the close. West Japan Railway Co. (T:9021) declined 0.88% or 57.0 points to end at 6457.0 and Aeon Co., Ltd. (T:8267) was down 0.87% or 28.0 points to 3175.0.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2797 to 823 and 144 ended unchanged.
Shares in NTT Data Corp. (T:9613) rose to 5-year highs; up 8.12% or 132.0 to 1757.0.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was unchanged 0% to 28.30.
Crude oil for April delivery was up 1.82% or 1.12 to $62.62 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in May rose 1.83% or 1.18 to hit $65.60 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract rose 1.52% or 26.30 to trade at $1755.10 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.01% to 106.56, while EUR/JPY rose 0.13% to 128.82.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.13% at 90.767.
