Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Paper & Pulp, Railway & Bus and Real Estate sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 rose 2.09%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Fuji Electric Co., Ltd. (T:6504), which rose 10.43% or 560.0 points to trade at 5930.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Shin-Etsu Chemical Co., Ltd. (T:4063) added 7.62% or 1345.0 points to end at 18995.0 and Fujikura Ltd. (T:5803) was up 6.99% or 39.0 points to 597.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Fujitsu Ltd. (T:6702), which fell 9.95% or 1675.0 points to trade at 15165.0 at the close. NEC Corp. (T:6701) declined 3.67% or 170.0 points to end at 4465.0 and Otsuka Holdings Ltd (T:4578) was down 3.15% or 129.0 points to 3963.0.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2758 to 841 and 164 ended unchanged.
Shares in NEC Corp. (T:6701) fell to 52-week lows; falling 3.67% or 170.0 to 4465.0. Shares in Otsuka Holdings Ltd (T:4578) fell to 52-week lows; falling 3.15% or 129.0 to 3963.0.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was unchanged 0% to 27.58.
Crude oil for March delivery was up 0.62% or 0.54 to $87.15 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in April rose 0.52% or 0.46 to hit $88.63 a barrel, while the February Gold Futures contract rose 0.13% or 2.40 to trade at $1795.50 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.28% to 115.67, while EUR/JPY rose 0.16% to 128.73.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.11% at 97.347.
