Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Paper & Pulp, Railway & Bus and Real Estate sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 gained 2.00%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Dainippon Screen Mfg. Co., Ltd. (T:7735), which rose 8.01% or 410.0 points to trade at 5530.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Advantest Corp. (T:6857) added 7.11% or 215.0 points to end at 3240.0 and Unitika, Ltd. (T:3103) was up 4.93% or 20.0 points to 426.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were DeNA Co Ltd (T:2432), which fell 1.11% or 24.0 points to trade at 2134.0 at the close. Japan Post Holdings Co Ltd (T:6178) declined 0.81% or 9.0 points to end at 1102.0 and Hitachi Zosen Corp. (T:7004) was down 0.50% or 2.0 points to 398.0.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 3092 to 480 and 166 ended unchanged.
Shares in Japan Post Holdings Co Ltd (T:6178) fell to all time lows; down 0.81% or 9.0 to 1102.0.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was unchanged 0.00% to 16.36.
Crude oil for August delivery was up 1.07% or 0.59 to $55.89 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 1.40% or 0.87 to hit $62.80 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract rose 0.84% or 11.95 to trade at $1440.05 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.32% to 107.64, while EUR/JPY rose 0.18% to 121.17.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.10% at 96.545.
