Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Paper & Pulp, Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic and Shipbuilding sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 added 1.98%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Mercari Inc (TYO:4385), which rose 8.68% or 174.50 points to trade at 2,185.00 at the close. Meanwhile, M3 Inc (TYO:2413) added 8.07% or 104.00 points to end at 1,392.50 and Sharp Corp (TYO:6753) was up 7.07% or 63.50 points to 961.20 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Seven & i Holdings Co., Ltd. (TYO:3382), which fell 10.55% or 228.00 points to trade at 1,933.00 at the close. Ajinomoto Co., Inc. (TYO:2802) declined 1.81% or 100.00 points to end at 5,410.00 and Hitachi Ltd (TYO:6501) was down 1.13% or 40.00 points to 3,510.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 3173 to 537 and 168 ended unchanged.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 2.61% to 26.54.
Crude oil for October delivery was down 0.56% or 0.41 to $73.25 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in October fell 0.54% or 0.42 to hit $77.24 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.08% or 2.05 to trade at $2,543.35 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.37% to 147.12, while EUR/JPY rose 0.29% to 162.98.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.05% at 101.79.
