Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Transportation Equipment, Services and Food sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 gained 1.69%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Aozora Bank, Ltd. (TYO:8304), which rose 5.74% or 159.00 points to trade at 2,931.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Yamaha Motor Co Ltd (TYO:7272) added 5.16% or 184.00 points to end at 3,752.00 and Advantest Corp. (TYO:6857) was up 5.11% or 206.00 points to 4,240.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Taiyo Yuden Co., Ltd. (TYO:6976), which fell 6.26% or 248.00 points to trade at 3,715.00 at the close. Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding (TYO:7003) declined 2.97% or 15.00 points to end at 490.00 and Pacific Metals Co., Ltd. (TYO:5541) was down 2.08% or 26.00 points to 1,225.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 3360 to 397 and 108 ended unchanged.

The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 12.12% to 22.76 a new 3-months high.
Crude oil for November delivery was down 0.26% or 0.22 to $84.00 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in December fell 0.13% or 0.11 to hit $85.70 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.07% or 1.25 to trade at $1,836.05 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.09% to 148.99, while EUR/JPY fell 0.06% to 156.55.
The US Dollar Index Futures was unchanged 0.00% at 106.53.
