Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Paper & Pulp, Railway & Bus and Real Estate sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 added 1.56%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were IHI Corp. (T:7013), which rose 5.13% or 111.0 points to trade at 2273.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Aeon Co., Ltd. (T:8267) added 4.79% or 156.0 points to end at 3412.0 and Advantest Corp. (T:6857) was up 4.65% or 410.0 points to 9230.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Citizen Holdings Co., Ltd. (T:7762), which fell 1.76% or 7.0 points to trade at 391.0 at the close. Showa Denko K.K. (T:4004) declined 1.71% or 55.0 points to end at 3160.0 and Tokai Carbon Co., Ltd. (T:5301) was down 1.52% or 27.0 points to 1745.0.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2903 to 692 and 170 ended unchanged.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was unchanged 0% to 25.65.
Crude oil for May delivery was up 2.08% or 1.22 to $59.78 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in May rose 1.74% or 1.08 to hit $63.03 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract rose 0.06% or 1.05 to trade at $1726.15 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.07% to 109.25, while EUR/JPY rose 0.23% to 128.72.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.04% at 92.793.
