Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Rubber, Railway & Bus and Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 added 1.52%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were JGC Corp. (TYO:1963), which rose 6.05% or 125.50 points to trade at 2,200.50 at the close. Meanwhile, Idemitsu Kosan Co Ltd (TYO:5019) added 4.76% or 164.00 points to end at 3,606.00 and Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding (TYO:7003) was up 4.50% or 28.00 points to 650.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Kubota Corp. (TYO:6326), which fell 1.60% or 38.00 points to trade at 2,342.00 at the close. Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd. (TYO:9107) declined 1.32% or 72.00 points to end at 5,383.00 and Toho Co., Ltd. (TYO:9602) was down 1.11% or 62.00 points to 5,517.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2290 to 1325 and 248 ended unchanged.
Shares in JGC Corp. (TYO:1963) rose to 3-years highs; up 6.05% or 125.50 to 2,200.50. Shares in Idemitsu Kosan Co Ltd (TYO:5019) rose to 52-week highs; gaining 4.76% or 164.00 to 3,606.00. Shares in Mitsui Engineering & Shipbuilding (TYO:7003) rose to 3-years highs; up 4.50% or 28.00 to 650.00.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 1.54% to 16.48.
Crude oil for October delivery was up 0.76% or 0.67 to $89.19 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in November rose 0.70% or 0.64 to hit $92.52 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.24% or 4.65 to trade at $1,927.85 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.18% to 147.18, while EUR/JPY fell 0.09% to 158.08.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.08% at 104.32.
