Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Transportation Equipment, Transport and Non-Metal Minerals sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 rose 1.46%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were The Japan Steel Works, Ltd. (T:5631), which rose 7.87% or 255.0 points to trade at 3495.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Sumitomo Osaka Cement Co., Ltd. (T:5232) added 6.64% or 33.0 points to end at 530.0 and Tokai Carbon Co., Ltd. (T:5301) was up 5.99% or 64.0 points to 1132.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Chiyoda Corp. (T:6366), which fell 3.50% or 25.0 points to trade at 690.0 at the close. SUMCO Corp. (T:3436) declined 1.97% or 58.0 points to end at 2879.0 and Inpex Corp. (T:1605) was down 1.91% or 24.5 points to 1257.5.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2502 to 805 and 194 ended unchanged.

The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 6.24% to 19.74.
Crude oil for December delivery was up 0.14% or 0.08 to $55.41 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in January rose 0.37% or 0.23 to hit $62.10 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.04% or 0.51 to trade at $1277.19 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.30% to 113.22, while EUR/JPY rose 0.26% to 133.43.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.12% at 93.83.
