Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Insurance, Shipbuilding and Banking sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 gained 1.26%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Sumitomo Dainippon Pharma Co Ltd (T:4506), which rose 5.80% or 125.0 points to trade at 2282.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Daiichi Sankyo Co., Ltd. (T:4568) added 4.30% or 188.0 points to end at 4563.0 and Familymart Ltd (T:8028) was up 3.78% or 370.0 points to 10160.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were JGC Corp. (T:1963), which fell 4.30% or 97.0 points to trade at 2158.0 at the close. Taiyo Yuden Co., Ltd. (T:6976) declined 3.79% or 113.0 points to end at 2871.0 and Hokuetsu Kishu Paper Co., Ltd. (T:3865) was down 2.66% or 17.0 points to 622.0.
Falling stocks outnumbered advancing ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 1692 to 1651 and 251 ended unchanged.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 2.80% to 16.69.
Crude oil for October delivery was up 0.50% or 0.34 to $67.88 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in November rose 0.89% or 0.69 to hit $78.06 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.10% or 1.20 to trade at $1201.00 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.34% to 111.50, while EUR/JPY rose 0.62% to 129.62.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.17% at 94.96.
