Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Insurance, Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic and Banking sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 added 1.24% to hit a new 3-months high.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd. (TYO:9107), which rose 8.56% or 214.00 points to trade at 2,714.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Minebea Mitsumi Inc (TYO:6479) added 7.18% or 238.00 points to end at 3,552.00 and Mercari Inc (TYO:4385) was up 5.94% or 125.00 points to 2,228.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Sumitomo Dainippon Pharma Co Ltd (TYO:4506), which fell 3.08% or 12.00 points to trade at 378.00 at the close. Dentsu Inc. (TYO:4324) declined 2.08% or 84.00 points to end at 3,945.00 and Takashimaya Co., Ltd. (TYO:8233) was down 1.96% or 59.00 points to 2,948.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 1930 to 1669 and 281 ended unchanged.
Shares in Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd. (TYO:9107) rose to 52-week highs; rising 8.56% or 214.00 to 2,714.00. Shares in Minebea Mitsumi Inc (TYO:6479) rose to all time highs; up 7.18% or 238.00 to 3,552.00.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 0.56% to 16.04 a new 6-months low.
Crude oil for August delivery was up 0.23% or 0.19 to $83.57 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in September rose 0.32% or 0.28 to hit $86.88 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract fell 0.09% or 2.05 to trade at $2,336.85 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.15% to 161.70, while EUR/JPY rose 0.05% to 173.52.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.02% at 105.61.
