Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic, Transportation Equipment and Power sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 gained 1.22%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Ube Industries, Ltd. (T:4208), which rose 4.75% or 150.0 points to trade at 3310.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Yamato Holdings Co., Ltd. (T:9064) added 3.88% or 104.5 points to end at 2796.5 and Nissan Chemical Industries, Ltd. (T:4021) was up 3.73% or 150.0 points to 4170.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Tokai Carbon Co., Ltd. (T:5301), which fell 4.41% or 87.0 points to trade at 1884.0 at the close. Toho Zinc Co., Ltd. (T:5707) declined 3.36% or 200.0 points to end at 5750.0 and Chiyoda Corp. (T:6366) was down 3.02% or 32.0 points to 1028.0.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2306 to 1084 and 184 ended unchanged.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 11.72% to 22.08.
Crude oil for April delivery was up 0.24% or 0.15 to $63.70 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in May rose 0.03% or 0.02 to hit $67.06 a barrel, while the April Gold Futures contract rose 0.89% or 11.90 to trade at $1342.20 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.33% to 106.44, while EUR/JPY fell 0.11% to 131.26.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.32% at 89.52.
