Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Thursday, as gains in the Warehousing, Finance & Investment and Transportation Equipment sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 rose 1.20%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Advantest Corp. (TYO:6857), which rose 10.00% or 359.00 points to trade at 3,949.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Kikkoman Corp. (TYO:2801) added 8.05% or 707.00 points to end at 9,490.00 and Dainippon Screen Mfg. Co., Ltd. (TYO:7735) was up 7.70% or 573.00 points to 8,014.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Yamaha Corp. (TYO:7951), which fell 8.58% or 350.00 points to trade at 3,730.00 at the close. Astellas Pharma Inc. (TYO:4503) declined 4.78% or 93.00 points to end at 1,851.00 and Mitsubishi Corp. (TYO:8058) was down 4.23% or 304.00 points to 6,891.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2192 to 1441 and 229 ended unchanged.
Shares in Yamaha Corp. (TYO:7951) fell to 3-years lows; falling 8.58% or 350.00 to 3,730.00. Shares in Kikkoman Corp. (TYO:2801) rose to 52-week highs; rising 8.05% or 707.00 to 9,490.00.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 4.95% to 20.94.
Crude oil for December delivery was up 1.19% or 0.96 to $81.40 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in January rose 1.13% or 0.96 to hit $85.59 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.30% or 5.95 to trade at $1,993.45 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.37% to 150.40, while EUR/JPY fell 0.05% to 159.50.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.50% at 106.18.
