Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Shipbuilding, Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic and Finance & Investment sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 rose 1.20%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Toray Industries, Inc. (T:3402), which rose 6.27% or 47.9 points to trade at 811.7 at the close. Meanwhile, Shiseido Co., Ltd. (T:4911) added 5.07% or 403.0 points to end at 8358.0 and Yaskawa Electric Corp. (T:6506) was up 4.50% or 145.0 points to 3365.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Resona Holdings, Inc. (T:8308), which fell 1.74% or 8.0 points to trade at 452.9 at the close. KDDI Corp. (T:9433) declined 1.59% or 44.0 points to end at 2726.0 and Isetan Mitsukoshi Holdings Ltd. (T:3099) was down 1.43% or 13.0 points to 897.0.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2774 to 753 and 195 ended unchanged.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 4.77% to 17.16 a new 1-month low.
Crude oil for July delivery was up 0.43% or 0.23 to $54.22 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in August rose 0.30% or 0.19 to hit $63.48 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract fell 1.10% or 14.75 to trade at $1331.35 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.45% to 108.67, while EUR/JPY rose 0.14% to 122.76.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.34% at 96.822.
