Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Automobiles & Parts, Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic and Finance & Investment sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 gained 1.13%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Yaskawa Electric Corp. (TYO:6506), which rose 7.35% or 450.00 points to trade at 6,564.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Mitsubishi Materials Corp. (TYO:5711) added 5.80% or 167.50 points to end at 3,053.00 and Fujikura Ltd. (TYO:5803) was up 5.13% or 123.50 points to 2,539.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were DIC Corp (TYO:4631), which fell 2.08% or 63.50 points to trade at 2,992.00 at the close. Keisei Electric Railway Co., Ltd. (TYO:9009) declined 1.90% or 119.00 points to end at 6,158.00 and Shimizu Corp. (TYO:1803) was down 1.72% or 15.70 points to 895.90.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2556 to 1078 and 232 ended unchanged.
Shares in Mitsubishi Materials Corp. (TYO:5711) rose to 3-years highs; gaining 5.80% or 167.50 to 3,053.00. Shares in Fujikura Ltd. (TYO:5803) rose to all time highs; rising 5.13% or 123.50 to 2,539.00.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 1.12% to 21.24.
Crude oil for May delivery was up 0.14% or 0.12 to $86.55 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in June rose 0.17% or 0.15 to hit $90.53 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract rose 0.58% or 13.55 to trade at $2,364.55 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.06% to 151.88, while EUR/JPY rose 0.02% to 164.90.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.02% at 103.93.
