Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Friday, as gains in the Electrical/Machinery, Power and Trading sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 gained 1.12%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Eisai Co., Ltd. (T:4523), which rose 19.47% or 1500.0 points to trade at 9206.0 at the close. Meanwhile, TDK Corp (T:6762) added 5.15% or 550.0 points to end at 11220.0 and Tokai Carbon Co., Ltd. (T:5301) was up 5.13% or 98.0 points to 2008.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were JGC Corp. (T:1963), which fell 2.36% or 48.0 points to trade at 1989.0 at the close. Showa Shell Sekiyu K.K. (T:5002) declined 2.28% or 36.0 points to end at 1546.0 and Toho Co., Ltd. (T:9602) was down 1.84% or 65.0 points to 3465.0.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2695 to 679 and 150 ended unchanged.

The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 2.80% to 20.55.
Crude oil for August delivery was down 0.03% or 0.02 to $72.92 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in September fell 0.26% or 0.20 to hit $77.19 a barrel, while the August Gold Futures contract fell 0.14% or 1.80 to trade at $1257.00 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.05% to 110.60, while EUR/JPY rose 0.15% to 129.55.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.14% at 94.00.
