Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Wednesday, as gains in the Warehousing, Transportation Equipment and Transport sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 gained 1.08% to hit a new 6-months high.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Yaskawa Electric Corp. (T:6506), which rose 5.58% or 185.0 points to trade at 3500.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Ube Industries, Ltd. (T:4208) added 4.35% or 119.0 points to end at 2853.0 and The Dai-ichi Life Insurance Co. (T:8750) was up 4.30% or 95.0 points to 2302.3 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Fast Retailing Co., Ltd. (T:9983), which fell 2.48% or 1430.0 points to trade at 56230.0 at the close. The Kansai Electric Power Co. (T:9503) declined 2.16% or 36.0 points to end at 1632.5 and Pioneer Corp. (T:6773) was down 1.83% or 2.0 points to 107.0.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2726 to 720 and 190 ended unchanged.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 3.54% to 16.96.
Crude oil for November delivery was up 0.30% or 0.21 to $69.80 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in November rose 0.20% or 0.16 to hit $79.19 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.45% or 5.40 to trade at $1208.30 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.04% to 112.41, while EUR/JPY rose 0.41% to 131.65.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.31% at 93.93.
