Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Shipbuilding, Rubber and Paper & Pulp sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 added 1.05% to hit a new 52-week high.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Advantest Corp. (T:6857), which rose 7.28% or 154.0 points to trade at 2270.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Furukawa Electric Co., Ltd. (T:5801) added 4.92% or 300.0 points to end at 6400.0 and The Kansai Electric Power Co. (T:9503) was up 4.36% or 63.0 points to 1509.5 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Shiseido Co., Ltd. (T:4911), which fell 1.93% or 86.0 points to trade at 4359.0 at the close. Nikon Corp. (T:7731) declined 0.97% or 19.0 points to end at 1936.0 and Sumitomo Electric Industries Ltd. (T:5802) was down 0.92% or 17.0 points to 1838.0.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 1955 to 1309 and 224 ended unchanged.

The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was down 0.19% to 15.47.
Crude oil for November delivery was up 0.30% or 0.15 to $50.61 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in December rose 0.09% or 0.05 to hit $56.17 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.18% or 2.34 to trade at $1274.14 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.24% to 113.03, while EUR/JPY rose 0.30% to 132.70.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.02% at 93.50.
