Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Pharmaceutical Industry, Insurance and Gas & Water sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 gained 1.05%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Chiyoda Corp. (T:6366), which rose 7.46% or 29.0 points to trade at 418.0 at the close. Meanwhile, Sumitomo Dainippon Pharma Co Ltd (T:4506) added 7.02% or 182.0 points to end at 2773.0 and Daiichi Sankyo Co., Ltd. (T:4568) was up 4.89% or 200.0 points to 4293.0 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Pioneer Corp. (T:6773), which fell 4.95% or 5.0 points to trade at 96.0 at the close. Dainippon Screen Mfg. Co., Ltd. (T:7735) declined 4.41% or 280.0 points to end at 6070.0 and Shimizu Corp. (T:1803) was down 4.24% or 42.0 points to 949.0.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2013 to 1447 and 206 ended unchanged.
Shares in Pioneer Corp. (T:6773) fell to all time lows; falling 4.95% or 5.0 to 96.0. Shares in Sumitomo Dainippon Pharma Co Ltd (T:4506) rose to all time highs; gaining 7.02% or 182.0 to 2773.0.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 11.98% to 28.32.
Crude oil for December delivery was down 0.57% or 0.36 to $62.74 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in January fell 0.81% or 0.59 to hit $72.58 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract rose 0.19% or 2.40 to trade at $1234.70 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.10% to 113.30, while EUR/JPY rose 0.14% to 129.30.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.03% at 96.11.
