Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Tuesday, as gains in the Transportation Equipment, Electrical/Machinery and Precision Instruments sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 added 1.02%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Softbank Group Corp. (TYO:9984), which rose 3.77% or 216.00 points to trade at 5,949.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, Ltd. (TYO:9107) added 3.58% or 85.00 points to end at 2,458.00 and Eisai Co., Ltd. (TYO:4523) was up 3.57% or 291.00 points to 8,433.00 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Chugai Pharmaceutical Co., Ltd. (TYO:4519), which fell 3.50% or 123.00 points to trade at 3,396.00 at the close. Trend Micro Inc. (TYO:4704) declined 1.58% or 120.00 points to end at 7,490.00 and Marui Group Co., Ltd. (TYO:8252) was down 1.36% or 33.00 points to 2,400.00.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 2499 to 984 and 329 ended unchanged.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 4.03% to 25.03.
Crude oil for December delivery was down 0.52% or 0.44 to $84.14 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in January fell 0.45% or 0.41 to hit $90.80 a barrel, while the December Gold Futures contract fell 0.17% or 2.75 to trade at $1,651.35 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was down 0.06% to 148.88, while EUR/JPY fell 0.15% to 146.87.
The US Dollar Index Futures was up 0.02% at 111.93.
