Investing.com – Japan stocks were higher after the close on Monday, as gains in the Mining, Chemical, Petroleum & Plastic and Warehousing sectors led shares higher.
At the close in Tokyo, the Nikkei 225 added 0.99%.
The best performers of the session on the Nikkei 225 were Sumitomo Dainippon Pharma Co Ltd (TYO:4506), which rose 6.68% or 26.00 points to trade at 414.00 at the close. Meanwhile, Nexon Co Ltd (TYO:3659) added 5.70% or 133.00 points to end at 2,467.50 and NTT Data Corp. (TYO:9613) was up 5.18% or 116.50 points to 2,371.50 in late trade.
The worst performers of the session were Dainippon Screen Mfg. Co., Ltd. (TYO:7735), which fell 4.67% or 785.00 points to trade at 15,990.00 at the close. Advantest Corp. (TYO:6857) declined 3.92% or 215.00 points to end at 5,257.00 and Renesas Electronics Corp (TYO:6723) was down 3.30% or 79.00 points to 2,317.50.
Rising stocks outnumbered declining ones on the Tokyo Stock Exchange by 3013 to 671 and 193 ended unchanged.
The Nikkei Volatility, which measures the implied volatility of Nikkei 225 options, was up 13.68% to 24.43 a new 52-week high.
Crude oil for June delivery was down 1.18% or 0.97 to $81.25 a barrel. Elsewhere in commodities trading, Brent oil for delivery in June fell 1.11% or 0.97 to hit $86.32 a barrel, while the June Gold Futures contract fell 1.47% or 35.45 to trade at $2,378.35 a troy ounce.
USD/JPY was up 0.05% to 154.71, while EUR/JPY rose 0.14% to 164.98.
The US Dollar Index Futures was down 0.08% at 105.90.
